Job Loss

The economic chaos created by Adrian Dix and his colleagues in the NDP cost the province thousands of jobs, while wages dropped across B.C. Today he’s proposing many of the same policies that were so devastating in the 1990s.

  • Under the NDP, British Columbia was dead last in job growth in Canada between 1996-2000. Under the BC Liberals, British Columbia has the second-best job creation record in Canada – behind only Alberta.
  • 50,000 people left British Columbia for other provinces in search of work between 1998-2001.
  • Under the previous NDP government, take home pay actually dropped and didn’t recover back to 1991 levels until 2001.

It took hard work to rebuild B.C.’s economic foundation after Adrian Dix and the NDP. That work continues to pay off, but could be reversed in a moment should Dix be elected.
